"If End Well, All Well: Ind vs Eng 5th Test Match"

India won by 6 runs | Series drawn by 2-2

The match had several turning points, and it was difficult to predict the winner until the final moments. At times, India seemed in control with Siraj and Krishna’s bowling, while at other moments England dominated with the help of Root and Brook. But in the end, India held their nerve and secured a thrilling 6-run victory.

Toss

Once again, England won the toss and chose to bowl first.

India's 1st Innings – 224/10

India had a poor start. The openers failed to score significantly, and even Gill and Jadeja couldn't make an impact. However, Karun Nair’s 57 and Sai Sudarshan’s 38 helped India reach a modest total. Small contributions from the lower order added value.

Top scorers: Karun – 57, Sudarshan – 38

Best bowlers (England): Gus Atkinson – 5 wickets, Josh Tongue – 3 wickets

England's 1st Innings – 210/10

England began aggressively, as if playing a T20 match. Pope, Root, and Brook maintained the momentum, but the batting collapsed quickly after that. They managed to add only 25 runs for the last few wickets.

Best bowlers (India): Prasidh Krishna – 4 wickets, Mohammad Siraj – 4 wickets

India's 2nd Innings – 396/10

India lost Rahul and Sudarshan early. Nightwatchman Akash Deep surprised everyone by scoring a valuable 66. Yashasvi Jaiswal proved his worth with a solid 118. Jadeja and Sundar also contributed with fifties.

Top scorers: Jaiswal – 118, Akash Deep – 66, Jadeja – 58, Sundar – 54

Best bowlers (England): Josh Tongue – 5 wickets, Gus Atkinson – 3 wickets, Overton – 2 wickets

England's 2nd Innings – 367/10

Ben Duckett gave a fast start again. Root and Brook scored centuries, and England looked close to chasing the target. On the final day, England needed just 35 runs with 4 wickets in hand. But Siraj and Krishna bowled brilliantly under pressure.

Top scorers: Root – 105, Brook – 111, Duckett – 54

Best bowlers (India): Siraj – 5 wickets, Krishna – 4 wickets

Heroes for India

Siraj and Krishna – The Game Changers

On a pitch where winning seemed unlikely, Siraj and Krishna changed the game on the final day. Together, they took 17 wickets across the match and covered brilliantly for Bumrah’s absence — so much so that we never felt he was missing.

Jakas Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal proved why he deserves a permanent place in the team. Despite some low scores earlier in the series and a few dropped catches, he bounced back with a brilliant 118 in the second innings.

Bowlers Who Batted Well

Akash Deep, a specialist bowler, impressed with the bat by scoring 66 runs. Even though he took only 2 wickets (including important ones like Duckett and Brook), his batting contribution was crucial. Jadeja and Sundar also scored valuable runs that made the difference.

❌ Areas for Improvement

Lack of Responsibility in the Top Order

India’s top order failed in the first innings except for Sai Sudarshan. A good Test batsman must take the innings deep and build partnerships.

🏆 Series Status

The Test series is now level at 2-2.
